About

My industry exposure spans from CNC CAD/CAM, anti-virus, financial services, logistics and most recently trade workforce management. I've been developing software since 2003 and managing developers since 2006 in teams up to 30. In 2008 I was sent to Vancouver by my Australian employer to establish a new technical office. In 2009 I moved to London where I continued my work in the financial services sector. I returned to Brisbane in 2012 and eventually moved into logistics. From 2015 I've been working on a workforce management system for tradespeople. My technical skills lie primarily in software and databases however I enjoy Linux systems administration, networking and security. I am well versed in software architecture and database design of large scale service oriented systems. I always have my eye on the ever evolving community of open source development.

Workforce management for tradespeople
Brisbane, Australia
I began as a part-time contractor for Install and Fix Solutions Pty Ltd in March 2014 building a job management system for tradespeople from scratch. Initially the system was supposed to support property maintenance for the real-estate sector but before launch was pivoted to product installations for a large hardware retailer (aircon and doors). Then the system was expanded to support repair of whitegoods and browngoods including management of return authorizations, parts warehousing and fault reporting to importers and manufacturers. I moved to full-time on this project from May 2015 and was the only technical employee in the company for around 3 years. Later the system was expanded further to support delivery and assembly of products for some other large retailers (furniture, gym equipment, automotive and marine accessories).
